Service hours

The Historical City Centre LTZ is closed to cars:

  • from 6:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)

  • from 2pm to 6pm on Saturdays (excluding public holidays)

The Historical City Centre LTZ is closed to cars:

  • from 11pm to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays (excluding public holidays)

In August, the LTZ is suspended.

Permits for the LTZ Historical City Centre

Residents and other categories who are entitled to the LTZ permit, as well as persons with disabilities in possession of a special circulation sticker, can access freely when using authorized cars and exposing the sticker on the windshield or rear window of the vehicle. The stickers for people with disabilities entitle them to circulate throughout the LTZ and park in reserved parking areas as well as in every other allowed spaces.

The stickers for the LTZ entitle persons to transit (i.e., only to pass through the LTZ) or circulate (access the LTZ and park in the permitted spaces) according to the different types of permit. The stickers issued to residents, domiciled persons, craftsmen, repair shops and night workers for the Trastevere LTZ are not valid for other LTZ areas.

Exemptions

The following are excluded from the ban on transit: 

  • categories of regulated vehicles, taxis, chauffeur services;

  • residents who are holders of a LTZ nighttime permit;

  • people with disabilities, equipped with a special circulation sticker;

  • motorcycles and mopeds have free access to the LTZ every day, at every hours, and can park in the spaces for two-wheeled vehicles (except the Tridente LTZ A1);

  • electric-powered vehicles can circulate freely and at no charge within the LTZs of Rome. For such vehicles to circulate freely and at no charge, the owner must previously apply to Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, by sending an email to pubbliciserviziZTL@agenziamobilita.roma.it with a copy of the vehicle’s registration attached. They will proceed to authorize access to the LTZ without issuing any sticker. 

Parking on the street

With Council Resolution no. 360 of December 23, 2014, the following has been decided:

  • residents in via dell'Oca, via della Penna, via Principessa Clotilde (from via Ferdinando di Savoia to via dell'Oca), via Maria Adelaide (from via Ferdinando di Savoia to via della Penna) and via Ferdinando di Savoia can park (by exposing their LTZ resident sticker) in the spaces reserved for them in via di Passeggiata di Ripetta and in Lungotevere in Augusta (from via di Ripetta to Ponte Margherita, on the Passeggiata di Ripetta side);

  • residents in via Gregoriana (on the right side when facing piazza Trinità dei Monti) can park (by exposing their LTZ resident sticker) in the spaces reserved for them in via Gregoriana, in piazza Trinità dei Monti (left side) and in viale Trinità dei Monti (right side, from via di San Sebastianello to the first pedestrian ramp);

  • those residing in the LTZ A1, who are in possession of a valid sticker, are allowed to park in the aforementioned spaces.
