Mobility

The activities of this structure involve various lines and mainly support the institutional activities of the Department of Mobility.

The first is the planning of transport. Through the development of studies of planning future scenarios of mobility are being build to be able to evaluate the efficiency of the new infrastructures ( metro, train, tram, roads, exchange nodes) as well as the implementation of new regulations ( are the Limited Traffic Zone, the paid parking, the limitations of circulation within the rail ring etc.).

This means to foresee how many persons will move while the city is transforming itself and new neighbourhood’s are being created, from where to where they go, in how much time, with which means of transport and which route they take, in other words to estimate the traffic on all roads, on all systems of public transport and the pollution that this creates.

This type of activity is the one that will be requested within the technical insights of the Strategic Plan of Sustainable Mobility to be able to individuate the priority of implementation and the characteristics of the total of interventions that this defines.

A second line of activity is the development of the so-called System of Support to the Decisions that supports the choice of priority of Planning. To be able to make forecasts and evaluations on transport and social economic development a series of mathematic models and extremely sophisticated data bases have been developed that guarantee the representation and the simulation of the territorial system ( defined by PRG) and of transport in its whole, from a large scale to provincial level up to the detailed single crossroad. It is a sector of big innovation where the company has developed a significant and peculiar know-how with the determinate contribution of the Roman University.

In the end the traffic engineering or the road safety. Plans and traffic projects are developed , from the General Plan of Urban Traffic, strategic instrument for the management of traffic on short term, up to Detailed Plans of Traffic that take up in detail the problems of the single districts in terms of simple and common interventions but with a big impact on the liveability and the road safety.

Apart from this the plans of the sectors related to single themes as the cargo, two-wheel vehicles, tourist buses, paid parking, the fluidness of the traffic through the optimization of the regulating of the traffic lights, the temporary viability for the opening of building sites of big projects.

The road safety is an item that will be developed in the next years with methodology of analysis and specific planning, also through the constitution of dedicated instruments of monitoring  and the participation of financing from the National Plan of road safety. The Triennial Plan of security is the instrument that the Municipal Administration has given to the Service mobility agency for the city of Rome to approach this item.
